5 years agoFree-agent first baseman/third baseman Mark Reynolds announced his retirement on MLB Network Radio on Thursday. It will conclude a career that lasted 13 seasons, including stops in Arizona, Baltimore, Cleveland, New York, Milwaukee, St. Louis, Colorado and Washington. Reynolds was taken in the 16th round in the 2004 draft by the Diamondbacks, and he spent the first four years of his career in the desert. The 36-year-old had his best year in 2009 with the D-backs, hitting .260 with a career-high 44 home runs, 102 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 155 games. In 6,243 career plate appearances, Reynolds hit .236/.328/.453 with 298 home runs, 253 doubles, 871 RBI and 64 stolen bases. There was a lot of swing and miss to his game, but he did have 30-plus homers in three straight seasons from 2009 to 2011.
