Mariners Showing Interest In J.P. Crawford
6 years agoThe Seattle Mariners have shown interest in Philadelphia Phillies shortstop J.P. Crawford as a return piece in a possible deal involving shortstop Jean Segura, according to sources. The Phillies would still pursue free-agent shortstop Manny Machado to play third base if they were able to trade for Segura to play the 6. Once one of Philly's top prospects, Crawford has disappointed in his two seasons, hitting .214/.333/.358 with only three home runs, 18 RBI and three steals in 225 plate appearances over 72 games. A change of scenery might be what he needs, but not too many fantasy owners will be looking to draft Crawford in 2019 in mixed leagues, even if he has a starting gig at shortstop in Seattle.
