6 years agoThe Seattle Mariners are apparently nearing a deal with Japanese left-handed pitcher Yusei Kikuchi on Monday night, according to league sources. He must sign a deal with a club before the posting deadline on Wednesday, Jan. 2. Kikuchi had a 3.08 ERA with 153 strikeouts and 45 walks in 163 2/3 innings in his last professional season in Japan. He's 27 years old and throws in the low- to mid-90s. While he hasn't been that hyped, he's one of the top available arms on the market. It's hard to say what Kikuchi's fantasy value will be in 2019, but Seattle would be a decent landing spot. Depending on his durability, Kikuchi could be a middle-of-the-rotation starter in mixed leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
