5 years agoThe Seattle Mariners signed pitcher Wei-Yin Chen to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday. Chen made 45 relief appearances with the Marlins in 2019 and struggled to the tune of a 6.59 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 63 strikeouts and 18 walks in 68 1/3 innings pitched. The left-hander will be an option if Seattle needs him for their rotation with 170 career games started, but he might be used more often as a long man out of the bullpen, which gives him virtually no fantasy appeal. The 34-year-old veteran has a career 4.18 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 7.2 K/9 in eight major league seasons with the Orioles and Marlins.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
