Marcell Ozuna Takes Batting Practice
6 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Marcell Ozuna (shoulder) took batting practice and played catch at the team's complex in the Dominican Republic on Thursday and will meet with president of baseball operations John Mozeliak on Monday. Mozeliak called it a "positive first step" for Ozuna in his recovery from shoulder surgery. Ozuna managed to hit .280 with 23 home runs and 88 RBI in 148 games, but it was somewhat of a disappointment in his first year in St. Louis after he had a career-high 37 dingers and 124 RBI in his last year in Miami the year prior. Ozuna could be a little behind in spring training but should be ready for the season, barring any setbacks. With better health, he should be able to improve on his 2018 numbers.
