Manny Banuelos To Be Fifth Starter
6 years agoChicago White Sox starting pitcher Manny Banuelos will be the team's fifth starter moving forward. A spot in the rotation opened up when the ineffective veteran Ervin Santana was designated for assignment on Friday. Banuelos, 28, has a 2.51 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 8.2 K/9 in five outings (one start) over 14 1/3 innings so far this year. He also has walked eight hitters, however, so he'll be a volatile starting option in deeper leagues. Keep in mind that Banuelos has only thrown 40 2/3 innings at the major league level since 2015 and has made only seven starts.
