Mallex Smith Won't Go On Injured List
6 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Mallex Smith (elbow) won't make the trip to Japan, but general manager Jerry Dipoto said Smith won't go on the 10-day injured list and should be ready to play in the team's home opener on March 28 against Boston. Smith has been out all spring with a strained right elbow, but he has resumed taking batting practice and throwing. He will begin playing in minor league games later this week. It's good news for his fantasy outlook heading into the season. Smith will be the team's starting center field and is a mid-round target for his speed mainly.
