6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said that infielders Maikel Franco and Scott Kingery could compete for playing time at third base this spring. However, everything would change if the team signs free-agent shortstop/third baseman Manny Machado. Franco is the superior fantasy option, but he has disappointed somewhat the last two seasons. The 26-year-old batted .270/.314/.467 with 22 home runs and 68 RBI in 433 at-bats last year but would lose even more upside if Kingery steals playing time from him. Kingery managed a weak slash line of .226/.267/.338 with eight homers, 35 RBI and 10 steals in his rookie season in a utility role.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
