Luis Urias Could Be Back Up Soon
5 years agoThe San Diego Padres are expected to consider calling up second base prospect Luis Urias from Triple-A El Paso possibly before the end of the month. Urias has yet to do anything in his limited time in the big leagues in 23 games the last two years (.167 average, two homers, 21 strikeouts in 72 at-bats), but he's been a beast on the farm and has proven that he doesn't really belong there. Urias is slashing .368/.461/.724 with a career-high 14 home runs, 34 RBI and five stolen bases in 44 games for El Paso in 2019. He's the team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. Whenever the Padres finally give up on Ian Kinsler at the keystone, Urias will get another shot. It's likely coming soon, so consider stashing him in deep mixed and NL-only leagues now.
