Logan Gilbert 2025 Player Outlook: Safe Fantasy Ace With High Floor And Ceiling
2 days agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert took another step forward in his career in 2024. Despite a 9-12 record, the 27-year-old compiled a 3.23 ERA, a 0.89 WHIP, and a 27.4% strikeout rate in 33 starts and 208 2/3 innings pitched. His career-low WHIP, BABIP, and career-high strikeout rate could be attributed to a few pitch arsenal changes. Gilbert relied primarily on his slider in 2024, which was his second-best swing-and-miss pitch. He also got much better results on his fastball after adding nearly one MPH at 96.6 MPH. He worked down in the zone with most of his pitches, generating a career-high groundball rate. Gilbert is currently being drafted as the 28th player overall, making him the fifth pitcher drafted. His steady career growth and ability to accumulate high inning totals have vaulted Gilbert's ADP into the top tier of fantasy pitchers. Even if he does experience slight regression from his career numbers, Gilbert offers both a high fantasy floor and ceiling, making him a safe rotation ace for 2025.
