Lions Won't Overwork Kerryon Johnson
6 years agoDetroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia and the coaching staff have no plans to baby running back Kerryon Johnson (knee) in his return to the field this year, but the second-year running back's workload could be limited. Johnson missed six games with a season-ending knee injury in his rookie season in 2018. He averaged 15 touches per game despite starting the season as the backup to LeGarrette Blount. Johnson has plenty of upside as the lead back of Detroit, but his season-ending injury and the fact that Detroit could limit him early in the year might make him a nice value pick in drafts. He'll enter the fall as the team's unquestioned lead back.
