Lions, Jim Bob Cooter Part Ways
6 years agoThe Detroit Lions and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter mutually agreed to part ways on Tuesday, according to a source. The Lions finished the year ranked 24th in yards per game (327.3), 20th in passing yards per game (223.5), 23rd in rushing yards per game (103.8) and 25th in points per game (20.3). Cooter wasn't helped by the trade of Golden Tate and injuries to Marvin Jones and rookie running back Kerryon Johnson. Quarterback Matthew Stafford had little to work with in a weak run-first offense down the stretch. Detroit desperately needs production at the tight end position to help Stafford out moving forward.
