Lions Giving Matthew Stafford More Rest
5 years agoDetroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford recently received a six-day throwing break in training camp and sat out of last Thursday's preseason opener entirely. "I’m not 21 anymore, so it’s probably pretty good to, if you can find a place in the schedule where you think you can get some rest and just kind of feel fresh again, might as well," Stafford said after the first of two joint practices Wednesday against the Houston Texans. He's feeling fine physically and the time off was planned in advance. The 31-year-old had 3,777 yards passing in 2018, which was his lowest total in eight years. On a run-first team under head coach Matt Patricia, consider Stafford more of a QB2 entering 2019 fantasy drafts.
