Liam Hendriks Visits With Blue Jays
4 years agoFree-agent relief pitcher Liam Hendriks was scheduled to visit with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday, according to a source. The Chicago White Sox are also believed to be interested in Hendriks, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand. FanSided's Robert Murray reported that the Los Angeles Dodgers also have strong interest, although there are no signs that he's close to signing a deal. Hendricks pitched for Toronto in 2014 and 2015. Ken Giles, the team's Opening Day closer, and Anthony Bass, who led the team in saves in 2020, are both free agents. The White Sox need a replacement for free-agent reliever Alex Colome, while the Dodgers could be searching for a more reliable ninth-inning arm after Kenley Jansen struggled last postseason. Hendriks had a 1.79 ERA, 0.90 WHIP and 39 saves in the last two years for the A's, becoming one of the best closers in baseball.
