Liam Hendriks Gets Shelled In Rehab Outing
2 years agoPitching for the second day in a row on his minor-league rehab assignment for Triple-A Charlotte, Chicago White Sox relief pitcher Liam Hendriks (illness) was hit hard. In just two-thirds of an inning of work, Hendriks allowed four runs on four hits (two home runs surrendered) while walking none and striking out one. Recovering from non-Hodgkins lymphoma, Hendriks is now scheduled to take Friday and Saturday off before making another rehab appearance on Sunday. If he pitches well in that outing, he could be looking at being activated from the injured list to make his 2023 debut for the Pale Hose. When the White Sox feel he's ready, Hendriks is fully expected to resume his role as the primary closer in Chicago.
