Lewis Brinson Optioned, Garrett Cooper Activated
6 years agoThe Miami Marlins optioned outfielder Lewis Brinson to Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday and activated first baseman/outfielder Garrett Cooper (calf) from the injured list in a corresponding move. Brinson was hitting just .197/.247/.263 with five doubles and no home runs in 27 games, and he's fanned 28 times and walked twice in 82 plate appearances. Cooper has missed the last month with a left calf strain and was 0-for-7 in the first three games of the season. He's hit .253 with no homers and eight RBI in 30 career big league games for the Marlins, but he might see decent playing time going forward. He's an option for versatility and depth in NL-only leagues.
