Larry Fitzgerald Held Catchless Thursday
5 years agoArizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald was held without a catch on only two targets in the preseason game against the Raiders on Thursday evening. Veteran players like Fitz often don't see much preseason action to begin with, so him going without a catch doesn't mean anything at all. The 35-year-old (36 later this month) was recently named the greatest Cardinals player in history, and amassed 1,303 catches, 16,279 yards and 116 touchdowns in his illustrious career. Fitzgerald broke a streak of three straight 1,000-yard seasons in 2018 when he had 69 receptions for 734 yards and six scores. The future first-ballot Hall of Famer should eclipse his 2018 numbers with a new offensive system, head coach and a rookie quarterback with heaps of upside. Fitzgerald won't return to being an elite wideout, but he could put up WR2 numbers in what might be his final season in the NFL.
