Lance Lynn 2023 Player Outlook: Potential For Another Solid Season In Chicago
2 years agoLance Lynn has enjoyed a quality pair of seasons in Chicago, most recently pitching to a 3.99 ERA, a 3.82 FIP, 124 strikeouts, 19 walks, and eight pitcher wins in 21 starts spanning 121.2 innings. The veteran's ERA did rise this past year, but that was in part due to a career-high 1.41 home runs allowed per nine frames. That being said, he also cut down on his walks considerably. After giving up 2.58 walks per nine frames in 2021, the former Cardinal lowered that metric to 1.41 this past season. As long as the right-hander can keep his home runs down – the 2022 season was only the third time in nine full seasons that Lynn has allowed more than 1.00 home runs per nine innings – he should be in line for yet another quality year near the top of the White Sox' rotation. Elsewhere, the veteran could once provide significant production where pitcher wins are concerned. Lynn has reached double-digit wins in the eight Major League seasons in which he's thrown at least 150 innings.
