Kyle Freeland Expected To Start Saturday
5 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Kyle Freeland is expected to be promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque to start on Saturday against the Reds. He was optioned to the minors on May 31 with a 2-6 record, 7.13 ERA and 16 home runs given up in 59 1/3 innings. Freeland also went 0-4 with an 8.80 ERA at Albuquerque, so fantasy owners shouldn't be in a rush to grab him off the waiver wire, especially in mixed leagues. Last year, the left-hander was 17-7 with a 2.85 ERA and allowed just 17 homers all season, so there is some hope that he'll be able to rebound in the second half. Don't count on it, though, especially with half his starts coming at Coors Field.
