Kyle Finnegan To Serve As Nats Closer
2 years agoWashington Nationals manager Dave Martinez said that right-hander Kyle Finnegan will be "the guy" in the closer's role when asked who the team's ninth-inning arm will be with Tanner Rainey (elbow) out. If Finnegan is unavailable, Carl Edwards Jr., Steve Cishek and possibly Jordan Weems will be in the mix for saves in D.C. Rainey has 12 saves on the year as the team's primary closer, but he's expected to miss the rest of the year due to a UCL sprain, so Finnegan is a priority addition for fantasy managers in need of saves. Finnegan has 12 holds, one save, a 3.89 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, 41 strikeouts and 13 walks in 34 2/3 innings this year. The 30-year-old also had 11 saves in the second half last year, but fantasy managers shouldn't spend much trying to acquire him given the fact that the Nats have produced the fewest amount of saves in baseball in 2022.
