Kirby Yates Extends Lights Out Spring Training
6 years agoSan Diego Padres closer Kirby Yates continued his strong spring on Sunday, firing a scoreless inning and striking out two. Through five innings, Yates has yet to allow a run. Yates will start his age-32 season as the Padres undisputed closer after inheriting the role in the second half of last season. Yates posted a spectacular 2.14 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 12.9 K/9 en route to 12 saves and 16 holds in 2018. Even with the impressive resume, Yates still holds reasonable value with an ADP of 119. He’s RotoBaller’s 15th ranked relief pitcher. Yates is a great relief target for fantasy players willing to bypass headline closers to address more pressing needs earlier in drafts.
