Kirby Yates Back With Team
4 years agoSan Diego Padres closer Kirby Yates pitched in an intrasquad game at the end of his second day in summer camp on Tuesday, striking out Ty France and Wil Myers before walking Greg Garcia and getting Franchy Cordero to ground out. Yates was late to arrive to summer camp with the Padres due to a non-COVID-related family issue. He's the team's undisputed ninth-inning man and was excellent in 2019, recording a 1.19 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 15.0 K/9 and 41 saves in his 60 2/3 innings. He's going as a top-three fantasy closer as a result during the shortened 60-game season in 2020.
