Kim Ng Out As Marlins General Manager
1 year agoMiami Marlins general manager Kim Ng is leaving the organization after three seasons after it was announced on Monday that she declined her mutual option for the 2024 season. Marlins principal owner Bruce Sherman said that the organization had exercised its option on Ng for next year. Ng became the league's highest-ranking woman in baseball operations and the first woman GM in the four major North American sports leagues when she was hired by the Fish in 2020. The Marlins also offered Ng a contract extension beyond the 2024 mutual option, but she declined. Ng told The Athletic on Monday that she and Sherman "were not completely aligned" in their vision for the Marlins' front office. Miami made the postseason this year for the first time in a 162-game season since their World Series-winning campaign in 2003.
