Ketel Marte 2025 Player Outlook: Standout Four-Category Contributor In Thin Position
2 days agoArizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte strung together his second consecutive strong fantasy season in 2024, slashing .292/.372/.560 with 36 home runs, 93 runs scored, 95 RBI, and seven stolen bases in 583 plate appearances. The 31-year-old was able to stay mostly healthy and took advantage of hitting towards the top of a solid lineup. Marte replicated his 2019 power numbers due to hitting the ball extremely hard, with clear career highs in exit velocity and hard-hit rate at 94 MPH and 53.8%. More generally, his Statcast page was covered in red across the board. Even if his HR numbers return to his 2023 values, he would still be a top power contributor at second base. After being outside the Top 100 picks last season, Marte is currently being drafted at pick 28 overall, making him the first/second second baseman off the board (dependent on Mookie Betts' position eligibility). Barring injury, Marte should offer four-category value across hitters. Second base is particularly top-loaded this season, making his contributions even more valuable.
