Keone Kela Shut Down Due To Workload Concerns
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Keone Kela is being shut down for the rest of the season "to ensure an optimal amount of rest and recovery to be ready in spring training 2019," according to general manager Neal Huntington. Kela hasn't pitched since Sept. 3 but has 52 innings on the year, which is more than he's had in either of the last two years. The right-hander finishes the year with a 3.29 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 24 saves and a 11.4 K/9 in 54 outings. All 24 of his saves came with Texas, so he hasn't had much fantasy value after moving to the Pirates in a setup role.
