Kenley Jansen Will Remain Braves' Primary Closer
2 years agoAtlanta Braves skipper Brian Snitker said that relief pitcher Kenley Jansen will continue to serve as the team's primary closer, but the newly acquired Raisel Iglesias is the secondary closer. Jansen is only on a one-year deal with Atlanta, while Iglesias is signed through the 2025 season. Jansen's fantasy managers were likely very uneasy when the Braves made the move to acquire Iglesias from the Los Angeles Angels at Tuesday's trade deadline, but for now, Jansen will remain the team's primary fireman. The 34-year-old right-hander has struggled at times this year, but he's been better of late and has a 3.43 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, 54 strikeouts and a healthy 24 saves in 39 1/3 innings in 2022. Iglesias might pick up a save chance here or there if Jansen needs a break, but it looks like his fantasy value will take a hit with the move to Atlanta the rest of this season.
