Kenley Jansen Making Progress
6 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen (heart) ran sprints on Tuesday and will throw to hitters on Wednesday and Friday. He's optimistic that he will be cleared to return after a follow-up exam with a cardiologist next Monday. Jansen continues to wear a wireless heart monitor around his chest. It looks like Jansen's irregular heartbeat wasn't as serious as first feared, and he could be back in the ninth inning sometime next week if he's cleared. After a slow start to the season, Jansen has returned to his dominant self and is one of the top closer's in the game. Scott Alexander has blown two saves since the end of last week, and the Dodgers could move to Kenta Maeda or Ross Stripling until Jansen returns.
