Ken Giles Could Be Available Tuesday
5 years agoToronto Blue Jays closer Ken Giles (elbow) threw a 20-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday, and his fastball had lots of life and his slider was moving well, according to pitching coach Pete Walker. There's a chance that Giles could be available against Boston on Tuesday despite not pitching since July 4 with nerve irritation in his right arm. It's bad news for those that picked up Daniel Hudson recently, but Giles could also be dealt at the trade deadline to a contending team, which would allow Hudson to take over ninth-inning duties for good the rest of the way. Giles has been great for the Jays this year with a 1.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 13 saves and 53 strikeouts in 31 innings.
