Kelvin Herrera To Undergo MRI
6 years agoWashington Nationals relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera (shoulder), who has been filling in as the closer in Sean Doolittle's absence, left his outing early on Tuesday with right shoulder tightness and will undergo an MRI exam on Wednesday. Herrera entered a 1-1 game and allowed three hits and two earned runs in just one-third of an inning before departing and taking the loss in Game 2 of a doubleheader against the Braves. He's been solid this year with a 2.53 ERA, 7.80 K/9 and 17 saves, but he might need to go on the disabled list, depending on the severity of his injury. If he does, Ryan Madson would be the likely choice to move into the ninth inning until Doolittle returns.
