1 year agoDetroit Tigers third base prospect Justyn-Henry Malloy is one of the most well-rounded hitters in Minor League Baseball, showing advanced patience and discipline while still making quality contact and tapping into his power. He was acquired from the Braves last December and has quickly pleased the Tigers' organization with his strong offensive production at the Triple-A level. With that said, his makeup is a little less night-and-day defensively; the Tigers hope he can play third base long-term, but if that's not possible due to limited range and arm strength, he'll likely shift to left field or first base. This past week, Malloy went 9-for-20 with four homers, five RBI, seven walks, and eight strikeouts. It was an impressive stretch for the 23-year-old who, with 129 Triple-A games on his resume, still has a chance to reach the majors within the next month or so.--Andersen Pickard - RotoBaller
