Justin Verlander Recovering Well From Surgery
5 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander (groin, lat) said that he's doing "very well" since undergoing surgery on his groin on March 17. Verlander is just about healed and is throwing long toss at not quite 100 percent yet. The veteran right-hander is taking things slowly so that he doesn't aggravate his lat. The 37-year-old would've have missed the start of the season if it had started on time, but now he's got plenty of time to get up to 100 percent following surgery. The injury is a bit of a concern considering his age, but Verlander remains a fantasy ace after winning the American League Cy Young in 2019 with 21 wins, a 2.58 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 300 K's in 223 innings.
