Junior Caminero Launches Four Homers In Big Week
1 year agoTampa Bay Rays infield prospect Junior Caminero was signed out of the Dominican Republic by the Guardians in 2019, then traded to the Rays in 2021. He has quickly blossomed into Tampa Bay's top prospect. His swing is a thing of beauty, generating plenty of speed at just the right angle so that he can pull baseballs to all parts of the field. He looks natural in the batter's box and has shown an advanced hit tool for his age (20). He's also decent defensively; with his slightly above-average glovework and arm, he'll likely patrol third base long-term. This past week, Caminero went 9-for-22 with four homers, six RBI, five walks, and four strikeouts. He has blasted plenty of home runs this season while staying under control at the plate and not sacrificing too many strikeouts. He should be a quick riser for Tampa Bay, potentially reaching the majors as early as 2024.
