Julio Urias Continues To Impress This Spring
6 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias continued to impress this spring by throwing three scoreless innings against the Reds on Friday night. The young left-hander allowed one hit, struck out three and walked one in the outing. With the uncertain statuses of starters Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) and Walker Buehler, Urias could be in line to make the Opening Day roster. He has given up only one run in nine spring innings. The 22-year-old has high-end upside as a front-line starter, but he's also two years removed from major shoulder surgery and threw only 22 innings in 2018. The Dodgers had planned to have Urias start in the minors in order to limit his innings this season. As a way to keep his innings down, Urias could be used in short relief stints at the major league level in the first half. Urias remains a fine stash in keeper leagues, but his mixed league upside is capped if his innings are limited once again in 2019.
