Julio Rodriguez Not Playing On Monday
3 months agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez (ankle) is not in the team's starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting division-rival Los Angeles Angels. Rodriguez nearly made a fantastic catch up against the outfield wall on Sunday but instead sprained his right ankle. The good news for the M's and fantasy managers is that J-Rod's X-rays came back negative, and the 23-year-old is being considered day-to-day. Fantasy managers will want to check back to see if he's available to play on Tuesday in Game 2 of the series. For now, it looks like Rodriguez has a shot to avoid a trip to the injured list. In Rodriguez's place on Monday, Victor Robles will start in center field and bat second against Angels left-hander Tyler Anderson. In eight career at-bats versus Anderson, the light-hitting Robles is batting .125 with a .425 OPS. UPDATE: Rodriguez had an MRI exam on Monday (results still pending) and remains day-to-day. Manager Scott Servais said J-Rod avoided a serious injury.
