Julio Rodriguez Dropped To Seventh In Batting Order
4 months agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez has been dropped to seventh in the batting order on Tuesday against the visiting Baltimore Orioles and right-hander Grayson Rodriguez. The 23-year-old Dominican outfielder has fallen flat in his third season in the big leagues in 2024 after winning American League Rookie of the Year honors in 2022 and being named to the AL All-Star team in each of his first two seasons. He's currently slashing a disappointing .247/.297/.327 with only a .625 OPS, seven home runs, six doubles, 29 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 96 strikeouts in 360 plate appearances over 85 games played. J-Rod's lack of power has been hard to explain, and he's gone just 2-for-29 (.069) with two walks and six strikeouts in his last seven games, hence the drop down the order in Seattle.
