Julian Merryweather Likely Out Longer
4 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays are still waiting for more information on relief pitcher Julian Merryweather's left oblique strain, and his injury is expected to keep him out of action beyond his 10-day injured list stint. Merryweather is eligible to come off the injured list on Saturday, April 24, but it doesn't look as though that'll happen. It's bad news for fantasy managers as well, as the 29-year-old had emerged as the top closing option for Toronto early on this season before his injury. Oblique injuries are tough to come back from, especially for pitchers, so don't be surprised if his injury lingers late into May. With Jordan Romano (arm) also on the injured list, Rafael Dolis has entered the ninth-inning picture for the Blue Jays and fantasy managers. However, Romano could return this weekend and be the favorite for closing duties.
