Josh James Could Make Spot Start This Year
6 years agoHouston Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said that pitching prospect Josh James could make a spot start this season. He will be placed on the 40-man roster eventually in order to protect him from the Rule 5 draft. James has gotten up to 100 mph with his fastball this year and is ranked as the team's No. 6 prospect. The right-hander has gone 6-4 with a 3.13 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 166 strikeouts in 109 1/3 innings over 22 games (20 starts) between Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Fresno. The rising youngster won't be an option in redraft leagues this year but should already be a name to know in dynasty/keeper formats.
