Josh Fleming Activated, To Serve As Bulk Pitcher In Game 2
3 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays activated left-hander Josh Fleming (calf) from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday and optioned left-hander Ryan Sherriff to Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move. Fleming is slated to serve as the bulk pitcher in Game 2 of the doubleheader against the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday behind opener Collin McHugh. Fleming, 25, is 6-4 for the Rays this year with a 3.39 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 40/16 K/BB in 13 appearances (six starts) in 66 1/3 innings pitched. He hasn't made an appearance in the big leagues since June 25, though, and his 16.4 percent strikeout rate in 98 2/3 innings at the major league level leaves a lot to be desired.
