Josh Bell Headed To Marlins
1 year agoCleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Bell is on the move to the Miami Marlins. The switch-hitting cover infielder will head over to Miami in exchange for infielders Jean Segura and Kahlil Watson. The Guardians recently acquired top prospect Kyle Manzardo in a deal with the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday. That being said, they wanted to free up a spot for the top prospect to play going forward. Bell is able to opt-out of his contract after the season, but is owed $16.5 million if he opts in. There is a good chance he doesn't head for free agency, which could be good for the Marlins. This season, Bell is slashing .233/.318/.383 with 11 home runs and 48 RBI over 97 games. Segura hasn't done much with the bat this season, so the big win for the Guardians is getting Watson back in this deal.
