Jose Alvarado Dealing With Inflammation
2 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies left-hander Jose Alvarado's (elbow) MRI exam looked good and only showed inflammation, according to manager Rob Thomson. He will be shut down for a few days and the Phillies will take it slow with him after he landed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday. It's great news for the 27-year-old southpaw closer, but it doesn't mean he'll be back when he's eligible to return. Fantasy managers need to keep him stashed in all formats, as he had five saves and was one of the best high-leverage relievers in baseball before his injury. The Phillies have plenty of options to pick up the slack in save situations while Alvarado is out, but Craig Kimbrel is probably the best bet for primary closing duties.
