5 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays reinstated relief pitcher Jose Alvarado from the restricted list on Friday. They recalled pitcher Casey Sadler from Triple-A Durham and also optioned pitcher Jalen Beeks and infielder Mike Brosseau to the minors. Alvarado hasn't pitched with Tampa since June 1. The talented left-hander is 0-4 on the year with a 3.09 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, six saves and 32 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings. With Diego Castillo on the injured list, both Alvarado and Emilio Pagan should share closing duties for the Rays.
