Jose Alvarado Back To Injured List, Joey Wendle Activated
5 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays placed reliever Jose Alvarado (elbow) on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with left elbow inflammation and activated infielder Joey Wendle (wrist) from the injured list in a corresponding move. Alvarado just recently returned from an oblique injury and is now right back on the shelf. The left-hander allowed a hit, three walks and an earned run in just one-third of an inning to take the loss as the opener on Saturday against the Orioles, too. He's no lock to make it back this year and can be left to the waiver wire now that he's no longer getting save chances. Wendle has been hurt most of the year and is hitting .206/.274/.277 with no homers, 10 RBI and four steals in 141 at-bats. He figures to be a bench player for Tampa and will have minimal appeal.
