Jose Altuve Expected To Be Ready For Spring Training
6 years agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (knee), who underwent surgery on Oct. 19 to repair a patella avulsion fracture in his right knee, said he expects to be ready for spring training in two weeks. He has progressed to the point where he can hit and work out, but he hasn't tried to run at full speed yet. It's expected that the Astros will ease him into Grapefruit League games. Altuve saw his numbers dip a bit last year due to the injury, hitting .316/.386/.451 with 13 home runs, 61 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 137 games, his fewest since 2011. He's still a top-20 overall player and is ranked No. 2 at second base for fantasy, but he now has some injury concerns as he enters his age-29 season.
