Jordan Zimmermann Injured In Poor Start
6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann left his start against the Red Sox on Thursday after only three innings with right elbow pain. Zimmermann had Tommy John surgery in 2009. The right-hander allowed five runs on Thursday for the fourth straight start after he flirted with a no-hitter in his first start of 2019. He's allowed 19 runs in 16 2/3 innings after allowing just one run in 13 2/3 innings in his first two starts. Zimmermann has also walked eight hitters in his last three starts over 12 1/3 innings. Ryan Carpenter was pulled from his start at Triple-A Toledo on Thursday and could fill in for Zimm if he misses some starts. With the poor outing, Zimmermann now has a 5.93 ERA and weak 6.23 K/9 in his six starts. He should be avoided in mixed leagues even if he doesn't go on the injured list.
