Jordan Wicks To Start Series Opener Against Cardinals
6 months agoThe Chicago Cubs have tapped left-hander Jordan Wicks for the series opener on Friday against the visiting division-rival St. Louis Cardinals. Wicks returned from the injured list last week and allowed an earned run in 3 1/3 innings of relief last Saturday against the Cincinnati Reds. Although the matchup isn't a terrible one at all against the Cardinals, Wicks will be a risky fantasy streamer in deeper leagues and in DFS, mainly because of the fact that he hasn't started a game for the Cubs since April 23 before his injury. In his five starts before going on the IL, the 24-year-old southpaw had gone 1-2 with a 4.70 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, 28 strikeouts and nine strikeouts over 23 innings pitched. With Ben Brown (neck) currently sidelined, Wicks should stick around for another start beyond Friday's outing in Chicago.
