Jordan Romano's Injury Isn't Serious
4 years agoToronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Jordan Romano (arm) threw a side session on Sunday, and pitching coach Pete Walker hopes to have him back as soon as his 10-day injured list stint is up. Walker said Romano's right ulnar neuritis is "nothing severe." Romano is eligible to return from the injured list on Sunday, April 25. With Julian Merryweather (oblique) possibly out longer while also on the injured list, Romano could be the favorite for saves in Toronto when he returns. The 28-year-old Canadian native doesn't have a save yet in 2021, but he's allowed just one earned run in 3 1/3 innings so far this season. Rafael Dolis is the current closer with Romano and Merryweather injured, but he's likely to go back to a setup role when Romano returns.
