Jordan Hicks Not A Lock To Return This Year
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Shildt said recently that relief pitcher Jordan Hicks' (elbow) return in 2021 "remains to be seen" after there was initial optimism that he could return in August. Hicks has only played light catch recently, with a return to more full baseball activities not especially close. How his body responds to a ramp-up in activities could determine his timeline after he received an injection in his elbow in mid-May. The Cardinals are being extremely cautious with the hard-throwing 24-year-old, given that his last pitch was thrown on May 1 after an almost two-year return to the mound after he had Tommy John surgery in 2019 and opted out in 2020. Needless to say, it's not looking good for Hicks to return much fantasy value, if any, the rest of the way.
