Jonathan Lucroy Agrees With Angels
6 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels agreed with free-agent catcher Jonathan Lucroy on a one-year, $3.35 million deal on Friday, according to league sources. He can make $4 million total with performance bonuses. An All-Star backstop as recently as 2016 with the Brewers, Lucroy has fallen on hard times with the bat the last two years with the Rangers, Rockies and A's, and he hit just .241/.291/.325 with four home runs and 51 RBI in 126 games with Oakland last season. Lucroy had a career-high 24 dingers in 2016 but has managed to hit just 10 the last two years combined. He'll still be in play in single-catcher leagues as long as he's playing regularly, but he's become more of a low-end option at this point.
