Jon Gray's Season Is Over
5 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray (foot) will miss the rest of the season after being diagnosed with a left foot fracture. Gray is leaning toward having surgery on his foot, but he's expected to be fine for the start of next season. He has been placed on the 60-day injured list, and pitcher Tim Melville has been called up from Triple-A to make the start against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. It ends a good season for the right-hander (3.84 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 11 wins), especially after he went eight scoreless innings against the Marlins last week. Melville hasn't appeared in the majors since 2017 and had a 5.42 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 8.8 K/9 in 17 starts and one relief outing in the minors. It's likely just a spot start for him and he should be ignored in fantasy leagues.
