Jon Gray On Track To Return In ALCS
1 year agoTexas Rangers right-hander Jon Gray (forearm) is on track to return to the starting rotation if the team advances past the Baltimore Orioles and to the American League Championship Series. Gray was placed on the injured list during the final weekend of the regular season with right-forearm tightness. If both Gray and Max Scherzer (shoulder) return for the ALCS, Andrew Heaney and Dane Dunning could then serve in bulk-relief roles, along with Martin Perez, giving the Rangers more depth and versatility in their bullpen. The 31-year-old Gray went 9-8 with a 4.12 ERA (4.47 FIP), 1.29 WHIP, 54 walks and 142 strikeouts in 157 1/3 innings over 29 starts in his second year in Texas in 2023. If he returns in the ALCS if Texas advances, he will be making just his second-ever postseason appearance.
